The forecast for Fairfield County over the next few days is wet, wet, wet — and that includes a chance of inland and coastal flooding.
The National Weather Service issued a flood advisory for Fairfield County as heavy rain began falling Sunday morning. Rain may fall as heavily as an inch per hour, causing streams to swell and water to pool in urban areas with poor drainage, the weather service says. There also is a chance of minor coastal flooding.
Rain is predicted every day through Wednesday. There is an 80 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms through Sunday night. Up to an inch of rain is predicted. The chance of rain falls to 50 percent on Monday and 60 percent on Tuesday and Wednesday, the weather service says. Highs should be in the mid-60s all week.
