Our readers nominated, commented and voted, and now we have determined the Star Teachers in Fairfield County. The top three Star Teachers have earned a grand prize of $5,000 for their school's parent-teacher organizations, while five other teachers have earned $1,000 for their school's PTO.
The three teachers earning the grand prize for their school's PTO are Pam Sullivan of Wilton's Miller-Driscoll, Donna Hempstead of Norwalk's Wolfpit and Carol Provenzano of Stamford's Our Lady Star of the Sea.
The five runner-up winners are: Mrs. Barone of Weston's Hurlbutt, Amy Francoletti of Fairfield's Stratfield, Jeffrey Goldenberg of Westport's Long Lots, Mrs. Muccio of Easton's Samuel Staples and Laurie Robben of Greenwich's North Mianus School. Over the next few days, we will profile the winning teachers and schools and present them with their prizes.
Thank you to everyone who nominated and voted for his or her Star Teacher. Main Street Connect and its network of news sites are dedicated to giving back to the communities we serve.

The City of Norwalk should be very proud to have Mrs. Hempstead in our system. She truly has made a difference in the lives of many children in the city.
Thank you, Mrs. Hempstead for a job well done.
You are truly example of what goes on inside of our school buildings and what Teachers really do.
