The Connecticut Boat Club won three races and finished second in another in a strong performance Saturday at the Greenwich Invitational.
The Novice 8 raced for the first time and won by 11 seconds in a field of eight boats. The team included cox Stephanie Leone; Fairfield's Annika Heumann and Jessica Ferrante; Darien's Katie deHaas, Olivia Taylor, Amanda Miller, Emily Olsen and Erika Osherow; and Greenwich's Bea Nash.
The Junior Varsity 8 in a tight battle won by 4 seconds in an eight-boat field. Team members included cox Anda Cara of Darien; Weston's Sarah Schwartz; Wilton's Maggie Roberts; Newtown's Kirsten Wessel; and Darien's Emily Wilson, Courtney Kyritz, Alex Minicucci, Whitney Ruhlin and Kendra Shutts. Schwartz, a novice, was racing for the first time this spring. Shutts competed in her first varsity race, moving up from the Fall Novice 8.
Coach Liz Trond split up her JV8 that won gold in a meet in San Diego a week earlier. The Varsity 4+ won gold with cox Katherina Isaza of Norwalk, Darien's Alex Enzor and Caroline Cochran, Greenwich's Maria Lycouris and Cheshire's Deirdre Fitzpatrick.
The Varsity 4x took second in the grand final with stroke Lexie Lynn of Greenwich, Wilton's Tori Babchak, New Canaan's Jackie Cloud and Ridgefield's Meg Galloway. CBC won a tight battle with New Canaan in the heats. New Canaan edged CBC in the grand final, with Saugatuck finishing a strong third.
The team will compete at the Mercer Sprints this weekend in New Jersey.
