The traditional season for giving is approaching and members of the Stillmeadow School Parent Faculty Organization hope their Stamford neighbors will support the school's students by donating an item for an upcoming fund-raising auction.

"We're looking for donations of nice items for a silent and live auction – restaurant and spa gift certificates, photography gift certificates, also sponsorships," said , chair of the event. "Also, we'd like to have people buy ads in our program book."

The event, which also features a celebration of fine wines and craft beers tasting, is dubbed Festival del Vino. It will be held March 18 at the Italian Center. Proceeds will support projects and programs for the Stillmeadow schoolchildren.

"We're looking to fund supplementary cultural, enrichment and academic programs," said Menon.

The fund-raiser is held every other year. In 2009, auction items included a flat-screen television, restaurant gift certificates and tickets to music, sports and other activities. That auction raised $13,000. Menon said she hopes the 2011 auction will surpass that amount.
