Spring arrives Sunday, and there's a race in New Canaan to help kick off the new running season. The Spring Equinox 8-kilometer run leaves the starting line at 3 p.m. at Presbyterian Church on Oenoke Ridge Road.
The course is a challenging run through a rolling course that features a long climb up Turtleback Road. Runners can register through Saturday at the New Canaan New Balance store. Race-day check in begins at 2 p.m.
James Wyper of Darien won last year's event, followed by Stamford's Anatolie Vartosu and Peter Hohmeister. Allison DeMartino of Ridgefield won the women's division.
The race is one of the kickoff events in Fairfield County for the spring racing season. Weekends are filled with races for runners in upcoming weeks, with a variety of distances and courses. More information is available on the race website.
