The “Smut List” has hit Stamford in the form of a YouTube video of a boy rattling off the names of high school girls on the list.
Similar lists have been circulating in Westchester County, N.Y., and Greenwich via Facebook and cell phone. The idea of the list is that girls named are promiscuous. The image on the video is the torso of a boy in a T-shirt bearing the words “I [heart] SMUT.” The anonymous singer in the Fairfield County Smut list video speaks the first names of female students in Stamford and Norwalk and then says some variation of “You a smut.” The video is four minutes in length, and as of Friday night it had been played 10,489 times.
Stamford School Superintendent Joshua Starr said students should delete from their phones anything pertaining to the lists. He added that students found to be in possession of the list would face consequences.
