UConn's men's basketball team is one win away from its third, and most improbable, national championship. The Huskies defeated Kentucky, 56-55, Saturday night in the semifinals of the NCAA Tournament in Houston and will play Butler for the championship on Monday.

Kemba Walker scored 18 points to lead UConn (31-9), which has won 10 straight tournament games. It won five straight to win the Big East Tournament and now has won five more in the Big East.

"The guys decided they didn't want to go home; this is too much fun," UConn coach Jim Calhoun said.

UConn won the title in 1999 and 2004. Few people expected this team to make a tournament run after it went 9-9 during the Big East season. They have been perfect in tournament play, however, including a run to the title in a tournament in Hawaii in November.

UConn led 54-48 with with 2:29 left before Kentucky mounted one last rally. Kentucky got within 54-52, and had a chance to take the lead with six seconds left on a 3-pointer by DeAndre Liggins. Shabazz Napier was fouled on the rebound and made two free throws to make it 56-52. Kentucky scored a 3-pointer at the buzzer.

Jeremy Lamb added 12 points for UConn, which led 31-21 at halftime. Kentucky came storming out in the second half with eight unanswered points, and the game was tight the rest of the way.
