Staples is the No. 1 seed for the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference girls lacrosse playoffs, which get underway Friday with four first-round games.
The Wreckers earned the top spot after finishing 10-0 in league play. Staples did lose to Wilton, 17-7, during the regular season. That game, however, was counted as a non-league game. Staples opens the playoffs at home Friday at 5:30 p.m. against No. 8 Ridgefield.
No. 2 New Canaan hosts No. 7 Greenwich at 3 p.m. in another first-round game. Other first-round games find No. 6 Danbury at No. 3 Wilton at 5 p.m. and No. 5 Ludlowe at No. 4 Darien at 4 p.m.
Friday's winners advance to the semifinals Monday at New Canaan's Dunning Field. The final is May 27 at Brien McMahon at 4 p.m. Girls lacrosse fans can view the updated bracket on Main Street Connect's FCIAC playoff website.
