Two years ago, Charla Nash was mutilated by a 200 pound chimpanzee. Last month the Stamford woman found out she was eligible for face and hand transplant surgery, the Associated Press reports.
After a series of tests and evaluations were conducted, Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston decided Nash would be a good candidate for the surgery. The hospital is now working with the New England Organ Bank to find donors that match Nash’s tissue requirements, the report says.
