Don’t be surprised if, on Friday, Feb. 4, you’re met by a sea of red while going about your daily activities in Stamford. The day has been designated Go Red for Women Day by the American Heart Association, and the Stamford Dept. of Health and Social Services encourages residents to wear red as a way to increase awareness of the risk factors for heart disease. Following that, of course, is developing knowledge about disease prevention and healthy-heart maintenance to avert what has become the leading cause of death among women. Go Red for Women Day is one of several awareness activities and events occurring in Stamford throughout February, American Heart Month. So peek into your closet, grab a red outfit and wear it Friday to help promote the fight against heart disease.
