A Norwalk woman was arrested in Stamford on Wednesday after incriminating photos showing her stealing pocketbooks at a conference room in the Hilton Stamford Hotel surfaced on Facebook, police said. Officers had been investigating the October incident in which two women were seen on surveillance cameras stealing the pocketbooks.
Purchases were made later that day in Norwalk with credit cards from the pocketbooks. Police sent out a statement with surveillance photos of the women and posted it on Facebook. Dominique Abelard, 20, of 1 Chestnut St., called police anonymously, begging them to take the photos down. Police tracked her down and arrested her on charges of illegal use of credit card and larceny. She posted $5,000 bond and is due in court March 23.
